Andrew's turn to host and there was a rumour that we were going to get Pulp Fiction again. Instead we were treated to another film just as well known and popular as Pulp Fiction. I don't think anyone had dared to show something as popular as James Bond. There used to be extra marks for obscurity - not any more!

I love the James Bond franchise. Sometimes it is ridiculous as with some of the Roger Moore films. With Daniel Craig, James Bond took a more serious approach partly because of the need to compete with films like Jason Bourne. Casino Royale is arguably one of the best James Bond films - certainly for Daniel Craig. All of the ingredients for a good James Bond film are included in Casino Royale including and old Aston Martin DB5 and the newer version DBS which gets thrown into a stunt with the most car rolls shown on film. Somehow James Bond survives only to get his bollocks smashed in by a pissed off guy with a funny eye who just lost at cards!

The film was well introduced with plenty of behind the scenes detail while we sipped on a Vesper Martini. One slight criticism from Simon was that there was not enough food! Scores for the film were all over the place with a high of 18 points (essential viewing) and a low of 9 (worth staying awake). Overall 72%.
